Although male pattern baldness is common around the world, it can be frustrating to lose your hair, especially earlier in life.
Roughly 25 percent of men under the age of 30 can already notice balding, and more than 50 percent of men of all ages do.
Despite it being so common, there is no one single remedy that works for every man.
If you want to stop balding, or even if you want to prevent it before it has the chance to start, utilize as many of these helpful tips as possible.
Investigate Hair Transplants
If you have serious pattern baldness, consider getting hair transplants.
Hair transplants are an invasive surgery that moves existing hair follicles on your head to the balding areas.
While this is an effective method, it can also be very expensive and is typically only used as a last resort.
In addition, it is important to remember that hair transplants only work for those who still have significant hair growth on the back or sides of the scalp.
Consider Medications to Stimulate Hair Growth
The most popular way to deal with male pattern baldness is with medication. The two most common options are Rogaine and Propecia.
According to hair expert Guilia Heiman, the pharmaceutical pill Propecia, “Has been shown to give results in 3-12 months after continuous use.” Rogaine is a foam that gets rubbed into the scalp daily and has been clinically proven to stimulate hair growth.
However, Rogaine typically gets the best results when used as a first defense, as those who have been bald for some time may not see the hair growth they want.
Laser Technology
There are a number of new developments that use laser technology to stimulate hair growth.
One example is the LaserComb, a device that looks like a normal hairbrush. Users spend 20 minutes each day using the LaserComb to brush their hair in order to stimulate follicle growth in order to prevent male pattern baldness.
This treatment, while effective, is best used as a preventative measure for those with a genetic predisposition to bald earlier in life.
Overhaul Your Diet
You might be surprised to learn that diet plays a large role in hair growth.
Without the right nutrients, healthy fats and proteins, hair cannot grow properly.
If you are concerned about balding in the future, or if you want to take a less serious route, then overhauling your diet may be a great step to help stimulate hair growth.
Focus on eating sufficient protein, iron and Vitamin C. In addition, you will want to reduce the unhealthy fats found in processed and fried food and replace it with healthier fats found in nuts, fish and olive oil.
Reduce Daily Stress
Take a look at the hair patterns of someone working 80 hours a week or even a new father, and you are bound to notice some signs of balding. This is because stress is a major factor in male pattern baldness.
According to researchers from the University of California, high amounts of stress produce hormones that cause or speed up balding. By reducing your stress levels, you may notice hair regrowth.
There are many factors that contribute to male pattern baldness, including stress, a poor diet and genetics.
However, each of these five steps can go a long way in reducing or eliminating pattern baldness and even stimulating hair growth.
