Sensational and Easy Yoga Poses to Deliver Chronic Pain Relief

easy yoga posesThe health benefits of yoga seem absolutely limitless. Many of those who subscribe to this ancient practice as a method of achieving physical well being, also experience improvements in their emotional well-being.

It is true that yoga provides many health benefits, but the real question at the moment is whether it can help with pain relief and how to use it in order to achieve these health elevating attributes.

Yoga for Pain Relief?

Many studies have been conducted over a period of about two decades by those at the Duke University Medical Centre.

The focus of the studies has been whether patients could obtain relief from chronic pain and inflammation through the practice of yoga and it has seemingly pointed to one answer.

Those who participated in the studies found that it helped relieve pain relating to:

  • Fibromyalgia
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Osteoarthritis

Through the practice of yoga the participants also noticed improvements in flexibility, strength and the range of motion in their joints.

Safe Way to Get Started With Beginner Yoga Poses

Yoga, like any form of exercise, is best started under the guidance of an experienced practitioner.

By working with a certified instructor you will learn how to properly execute each pose, or asana as they are called.

You will also learn how to modify poses in a way that is safe and will keep you challenged at your own level as full poses can be difficult depending on your beginning flexibility, strength and stamina.

You will also learn how to properly breathe during your practice.

Breathing is a rather weighty component to the yoga practice as the mind body connection is highly emphasized in order to promote the mind-body connection.

You will also want to consider consulting a physician or a practitioner from the nearest Pain Management and Injury Relief Centre.

These professionals will be able to further guide you on your journey towards a pain free life and help you devise a plan based on your specific injury or cause of chronic pain.

They will also be able to evaluate your fitness and any contraindications that may exist.

Elena! Is that you in the photo in front of the mountains? Fantastic article! Do you know of any poses for shoulders? I am a classical guitarist and play a lot during the day and I teach guitar lessons all evening. I play without tension, but the posture is not good for shoulders. Thanks and have a groovy one!

Hello Elena! When I was having significant neurological issues, back and neck pain, I went to a yoga class once per week and practiced several times a week on my own. Several of these poses really helped me get through a difficult time, and now my neck and back are much-improved. I highly recommend yoga for anyone and have many times longed to return!

Oh I couldn’t agree more that poses like the ones you mention can relive pain. I only have a little personal experience with this, but let me tell you. I had some back problems – slipped disk. And it hurt!

My doctor told me to do some yoga poses – simple ones mostly, but they worked to help bring the pain down. So it did help me quite a bit.
