Winter time is approaching and everyone starts thinking about how to strengthen immune system to stay healthy and avoid all the sneezes and diseases like cold, pneumonia, strep throat and others.
Like a castle under siege, millions of invaders are trying to get past your defenses and make you sick.
A strong immune system acts like thick castle walls, easily withstanding the siege of germs that surrounds you every day.
If there’s a breach, the good guys like the beneficial microbiota, work to strengthen immune system and keep the invaders at bay or to surround and destroy them if they do get in.
Immunological Walls
Any good castle has several lines of defense, such as moats, walls, gates, and a portcullis, as well as various types of defenders such as archers, pikemen, and ordinary people who throw rocks and boiling oil down on the heads of the invaders.
The immune system also has its defenses.
Skin is the first barrier against attack by outside forces.
Tears, saliva, and mucus are antibacterial. Most people know that white blood cells and antibodies attack invading pathogens, but the immune system also includes the lymph system, bone marrow, and spleen.
Weakened Defenses
Keeping the body’s defenses in good repair is essential which means that you need to constantly try to strengthen your immune system.
High stress levels, poor hydration, fatty diets, lack of exercise, and antibiotics all deplete the supply of friendly bacteria.
A weakened immune system can give rise to autoimmune diseases, allergies, asthma, and immunodeficiency disorders, which include increased risk for cancer or infectious diseases.
There are a lot of ways to strengthen immune system, but adopting healthy living strategies is the best.
It includes: healthy eating and exercise, avoiding drinking and smoking, getting enough sleep and regular medical screening tests.
Battling Germ Siege
Although antibiotics are necessary to kill off the microbes that cause illness, antibiotics don’t differentiate between the invading germs and the friendly microbiota.
Probiotics, on the other hand build up the beneficial microbes in the digestive tract to create a healthy immune system again.
Cultured dairy products such as yogurt and kefir can build up good microbes in the digestive tract such as acidophilus, lactobacilli, and bifidobacteria which helps to strengthen immune system.
Miso, soy drinks, and tempeh are also helpful. Probiotics are also available in supplement form, which can be advantageous because then the specific types and precise amounts are known.
Strengthen Immune System With Probiotics
Studies have shown that probiotics supplements can not only improve digestion but also help prevent ulcers, reduce lactose intolerance, improve irritable bowel syndrome, and prevent vaginal and urinary tract infections.
Probiotics may also help against osteoporosis and reduce the risk of some cancers.
A healthy immune system also helps prevent colds and flu and can reduce allergy symptoms. Evidence also indicates that probiotics supplements can help fight obesity by regulating metabolism.
Considering how good natural probiotics or probiotics supplements are for you, it makes sense to use them to strengthen your immune system.
However, whatever you do, please consult your doctor for your specific situation.
What do you do to strengthen immune system against invaders?
