Living in the Age of Technology Overload

Computer AddictedEveryone knows that in our digital age, we have computers everywhere: at home, at work, in the car and phone.

As a result, we get constantly bombarded by text messages, emails, Facebook updates, cell phone and Skype voice calls.

Our computers are pretty much always on, and we are on the Internet constantly!

With the new fast-developing technology we can do million things on line from shopping and watching movies to getting a College Degree and talking to another person 10,000 miles away.

Some scientists around the world who study brain function think this is quite alarming.

They believe this heavy technology overload affects our ability to think, make decisions, pay attention and most importantly – FOCUS.

We get mentally fatigued from working on the computer day, after day, after day…

We feel like we can not pay attention to one more thing.

So how do we recharge our batteries and bounce back?

The answer is NATURE.

Spending time in natural environments can help you with that.

On this wise, I would suggest the following.

Take a walk in the park or go for a picnic, play some basketball with your neighbors or go hiking.

Instead of sitting glued to your computer screen and making friends on Facebook and MySpace, go and meet up with real people for a cup of coffee or a barbecue.

Just because you have a computer everywhere, does not mean you have to use it 24/7.

I went to a great concert one night, and I saw quite a few people texting and checking their updates on Facebook.

They could not wait for an hour or two to do so.

Is not it sad? We can’t focus on one great thing at a time any more.

Let’s admit we are ADDICTED to the digital world.

So, what should we do to get better and keep our focus on important things?

Every once in a while take a “digital day off” and go for a nice walk or hike.

You body and your brain will thank you for that.

Remember: Healthy Body – Healthy Mind!

I bet if we do that we stay happier and healthier for a long time.

What do you think?
