Unfortunately, the truth is that the economy is not getting any better, at least in the nearest future.
We all know quite well that job security does not exist any more.
By the end of 2010, the number of people working part-time quadrupled since 1950.
That’s because they were not able to find a full-time job.
Job creation is at its lowest point since 1980, while the job destruction continues to rise.
All these statistics make it clear that the nature of jobs has changed.
No one can become bulletproof in these hard economic times.
But the good news is: no matter what your age, education or skill set – you can reinvent yourself.
Many of us, if we try hard, can turn job setbacks into new and exciting, sustainable and satisfying careers.
Do not ever fear the change in career – just embrace it and keep moving forward!
Here are three simple steps that will help you to reinvent your career in the current job market:
Create a Budget and Cut Back on the Luxuries
If you are working on your new career path, you need to stay financially fit.
Cut back on all the status things like expensive cars, eating out at fancy restaurants, expensive country club or elite gym membership.
Everyone will be much more impressed by your new career change than your new purchase or club membership.
Start From Scratch and Prioritize Your Passions
In the current economic conditions, we are all starting from scratch and are constantly changing and adapting to the current conditions to maintain our job security.
The most wonderful thing about reinventing yourself is definitely that you can ditch all the things you hated in your old job and start following your passions utilizing your skill sets and experience towards your new career development.
Get Online to Help Your Career Exploration
Career reinvention these days is all digital. Technology has become more accessible and vital.
You can easily learn new skills and get professional certifications in almost any field you can imagine.
If you have not already done so, learn to use social media: Facebook, LinkedIn etc. as well as post your resume on all the major career sites like: Jobing.com or Career.com
A few people I know reinvented their careers in the past 2-3 years, including myself.
And I would say, these people have become quite successful in their new careers not so much due to their prior experience or certain set of skills, but because of their great attitude, passion to succeed and strong willpower to achieve financial success.
